Allen Brost has been in the car business all his life. His father, Hilmer Brost, owned a Chevrolet dealership in Kulm, ND with his uncle, Wilbert Brost, before moving to Crookston in 1967. So he has “grown up” with this business. He graduated from Kulm High School in 1967. He attended Moorhead State College and graduated in 1971 with a B.S. degree in Business Administration. In 1974, Allen graduated from Chevrolet’s School of Merchandising and Management in Flint, Michigan. He became an authorized Chevrolet dealer in 1975 and sole owner of Brost Chevrolet in 1989. His passion for this business has kept him focused on making it a successful dealership with a tradition for excellence.

At present, Allen’s two sons, Eric and David, have joined him in the business. They both graduated from Central High School in Crookston and went off to college to obtain Automotive Marketing and Management degrees from Northwood University in Midland, Michigan. Eric manages the Finance and Insurance department and David managed the Parts Department before moving into the Sales Department.

Brost Chevrolet was started in Crookston on June 1, 1967. The business first operated in the old Crane Plumbing and Heating Building, which is now Health South. With a “vision for expansion” Brost Chevrolet moved to its current location at 1600 University Avenue in 1969 after completion of their carefully planned building construction project. This location has proved a wise decision as the business has continued to prosper. It provides a large showroom and office area which was recently remodeled using “customers wants and needs” as a guide. This remodeling project added three sales offices, an F & I office and three partitioned offices. The partitioned offices offer the customer a place to have a private discussion with a spouse or friend away from the sales consultant regarding the purchase of a vehicle or simply to sit down with the sales consultant in comfortable, private space to discuss the details of the purchase. The new building has large windows which provide beautiful natural light to the show room and the sales offices. Each sales office has a desk space and filing cabinet for employees to follow up on their customers’ satisfaction pertaining to a vehicle purchase.

The parts and service area is very convenient for customers being located in the same large building as the sales offices just off the show room so the customer does not have to walk outside to another area for all their parts and service needs.
